Abstract

DEKA faced a problem of not tracking costs due to the research and development nature of the company. With a shift to manufacturing, however, more cost information was needed. To resolve this, cost data was sourced from several different software systems across departments. This data was analyzed and manipulated to produce useful visualizations. The data was presented in the form of a business dashboard developed in Python using DASH. The operations process was evaluated to determine areas of better cost tracking. Finally, a scheduling model was developed using Python and the COIN-OR external solver to increase cost efficiency on the assembly line in the long term.
