Abstract
Leveraging its expertise from the mobile space, Qualcomm has brought power efficiency and cellular connectivity with its ARM-based SoCs into the laptop market. As the education laptop market has exploded in the current “study from home” environment, the question for Qualcomm is how to enter this entry-level market. The project analyzes the BOM costs and cellular certification costs to understand whether a discrete solution or a module solution is more suitable for this market segment from the cost perspective. Then combining with competitors’ pricing information, this project proposes a price range for the financially most viable product solution.
