Abstract
This project aims to improve the public transportation system from tactical level in rural areas where population is sparsely distributed, and requests are largely random. Building feeder lines to connect people to the existing main route can contribute. An optimization model is being built in this project and a heuristic method is being leveraged to put the model in practice for case study in Lebanon, NH. The case study shows feeder lines do improve the coverage of public transportation system for elder workers and lower income workers and being the benefit to both the transportation system and the community.
