Abstract
My project involved the creation and associated business analysis of a mobile electrochemical research platform to aid in the research of zero-carbon iron production for Electra, a Colorado startup. To create the platform, I built out the mechanical structure, designing and manufacturing components for safety and function, plumbing fluid systems, and wiring sensor, power, and data acquisition electronics. The system was built to run unsupervised, allowing for round-the-clock production. I quantified the labor cost savings of having an autonomous system using salary data, and expanded analysis to increased production capabilities using production rates and the associated saved labor hours.
