Abstract
Whirlybird Island is a novel in murder mystery format about the trauma of war and how such trauma suffered by soldiers is often transmitted to their offspring and society at large. The accompanying essay, The Sons and Daughters of War, is a personal essay that details my experience with the trauma my father suffered in World War II and how such experience led to the writing of the book and essay.
