Abstract
Anna’s Journey tells the story of a woman who flees her home for a remote village in southeastern Russia in December 1991, just two weeks before the official collapse of the Soviet Union. After fifteen years of marriage, Anna suspects her husband of betrayal. Unable to confront the potential truth, she chooses flight over conversation. However, she finds no peace in the frozen countryside. Trapped by a relentless blizzard, she is confined with a blind old woman who guards secrets reaching back to the early Soviet era. As their lives intersect, the novella explores the burden of human choice against a backdrop of drastic socio-political upheavals and attempts to answer the question about the thin line between a simple omission and a lie. Is every secret meant to be revealed?
