Abstract
Water and wastewater utilities are moving through a digital transformation phase, coined Water 4.0, aimed at improving the efficacy and sustainability of business operations related to producing, distributing and recycling the critical resource. The goal was to define the team function for Operational Technology (OT), recognize opportunities across core competencies to deploy and support modern technology, identify business partners to execute pilot projects and ensure each initiative conforms to enhancing sustainability in a streamlined manner. Internal and external interviews and research was conducted to strategize the umbrella for potential OT operations and priority pilot projects were executed with new partners.
