Abstract
Mikros Technologies makes custom coldplates for high heat flux applications. Recently, Mikros completed an IGBT cooling project where they outperformed a customer’s previous cooling solution. Mikros asked the intern to determine the feasibility of offering a non-custom IGBT coldplate. The intern studied the IGBT landscape and suggested focusing on a single IGBT. Semikron’s SKiM 93 was chosen, and the intern performed tests and simulations to compare the SKiM 93’s performance with a Mikros coldplate versus a competing coldplate. The intern demonstrated that the SKiM 93 performed favorably with Mikros’s cooling technology discussed the technical and financial implications of the result.
