Abstract

Fujifilm Dimatix recently released two new lines of printheads, Samba and GMA, which make use of silicon MicroElectroMechanical Systems fabrication. These new heads require constant cleaning of their accompanying nozzleplate from contaminates, yet Dimatix has not released any support documentation about this process. This project focuses on the design, fabrication, documentation, and release of a non-contact cleaning system for the GMA line of printheads to be used internally within the company and world-wide by customers. The design will be introduced to the GMA’s product manual and an application note will be sent out to current clients in hopes to reduce the need for customer support on this topic.
