Abstract
In this project, our team worked with Campfire3D to lay the groundwork for the next iteration of their independent augmented reality (AR) controller. With an emphasis on Campfire's system to collaboratively view and manipulate 3D models, we aim to seamlessly adapt their controller’s current functionalities into an intuitive and phone-independent AR controller. We conducted preliminary research into the current product and explored several implementations. Consulting with Campfire, our final prototype uses a custom application running on a native operating system to communicate with Campfire’s backend. It is powered by a microprocessor and connected to a high fidelity touch screen interface for user input. This design allows for increased scalability and accessibility, and reduces the mass implementation of new features to a single platform. Finally, we provided advice for how Campfire can refine our prototype into a market-ready product. Our work in this project will allow Campfire to expand their market into more secure domains as well as present new Campfire users with a concise introduction to their system.
